The latest decree from Columbia Games:
NEWS
EYES OF THE GODS
The psychological effect of seeing "00" on the dice persuades players that something unusual has just happened. As a HârnMaster GM, you can play by the book and rule that double zero is just like any other critical failure, you can yield to the pleas of the hopeful and confused and rule that double zero is a critical success, or you can succumb to your own inner Demon Pameshlu and rule that double zero is an unusually nasty critical failure. But why make any ruling at all when you can let the gods decide?http://www.columbiagames.com/HârnPage/Misc/eyesofthegods.html
HârnMASTER 3
Hârnmaster 3 is coming this November. Details and summary of changes from the 2nd edition will be posted shortly.HQ 3
There are more new articles for Hârn are coming this December. Look for sneak previews soon.HÂRNIC CONVENTIONS
GMs needed! Please folks! It would really help to have Hârn events held regularly at gaming conventions. GMs can run games on Hârn using any Hârnmaster or d20 (or another system). Scenarios like Dead of Winter, 100 Bushels of Rye and Trobridge Inn are great for cons.Consider playing a variant on Trobridge Inn where the player characters ARE the main characters (Kurson, Terlin etc.).This type of event requires less preparation as player characters are given and may ultimately be more fun in a one session context since player motives are clear and the game will unfold more predictably.
Columbia Games supports events at conventions with prizes and promotional goodies. Earn credit toward our products too. Contact us now about the events below or any others you want to attend.

Columbia Games needs to form a team of Hârn fans to bring Hârnic Heraldry into the computer age. Our goal is to scan the individual heraldry symbols, turn them into vector (important) art to make it possible to "build" the heraldry of any Hârnic family or create new ones. If you can help scan and vectorize art, please email: grant@columbiagames.com. When complete, the Heraldry project will be made available via the Columbia Games website.
A couple of updates to announce on my House Rules page:
HMG House Rules - Combat (version 1.9) - PDF file, 177Kb
HMA Pack #1 (version 2.0) - ZIP file, 2.82Mb
I hope you find them useful! :-)
There was recently some discussion on the HârnForum about GM Screens, so I posted a couple of photos of my two screens for easy reference. If you are at all inclined to take a look my Great Wall, the pics are here:
Sorry about the poor image quality - lighting conditions weren't the best...
Just for a bit of light-hearted entertainment, I've posted a page dedicated to Collective Nouns for the Hârnic Bestiary. Ever wondered how to impress Arcane Lorists by using the correct term to describe that rather large group of Vlasta bearing down on your party? Well, wonder no more! :-)
It is terrifying and absolutely sickening that a terrorist attack could take place so close to home. The horrific Bali Bombings that destroyed two crowded nightclubs in Kuta's main entertainment strip late last night have killed over a hundred (maybe 200) people and left at least twice as many more wounded, most of them tourists. What the hell is wrong with this world?! This kind of despicable act leaves me utterly speechless with rage.
I hope nobody I know numbers among the dead or injured - Bali is a very popular and cheap holiday destination for Western Australians. Myself, I've only been there once before years ago (once was more than enough for me) but quite a few people I know go there once or even twice a year to unwind.
I
received my hardcopy of the second installment of HârnQuest
today in the mail from Columbia Games.
Regardless of how much more convenient it is to have the articles in electronic
form, I have to say that they are a lot easier to read and refer to when they
are actually in print. Have you ordered
your copy yet? :-)
I observe to my dismay that my man at the Dagrath Tournament, the Kandian knight Sir Marick of Arwine, has suffered ignomonious defeat in his third consecutive tournament in Kaldor. Unhorsed by a most unsporting foot strike by Lady Sioda of Lythgran. This guy has never made it past the first round in any tournament - it's probably time he realised he just isn't good enough to face Kaldoric knights... :-( Anyway, head over to the Hârnic Jousting site and read the excellent and lively write-up by Neil.
