The dark, gloomy colour scheme of this homepage was starting to get to me, so I decided to brighten it up a little. Here it is - the new-look WarFlail's Armoury! :-) Do you like it? Please let me know.

Dead links - ugh! Fellow Hârn devotee Patrick Nilsson pointed out that the HÂRN LINK was suffering from Dead Link Syndrome again. The following site is completely unreachable:

Kestrel's Hârn Files - 404 Not Found

Does anyone know whether this site has been pulled down or simply relocated? If it isn't back up soon, I'll be forced to delete...

The latest addition to HÂRN LINK is the following online HârnMaster gaming site, by Frostflower:

Autumnal Equinox Autumnal Equinox

Frostflower is currently recruiting players for her Play-by-Email campaign (looks very interesting!), so if you would like to join in, then please let her know.

House Rules update:

There is now available an updated version of my HMC Armour Profiles Summary. It features a couple of very minor error fixes and the addition of a few new garments. Somebody suggested that the clothing list be expanded to included different materials (serge, buckram, linen, silk, etc) rather than the current choice of only Cloth and Light Cloth. The trouble is, that makes the list extremely long. A quick-fix solution is to use just the two clothing materials and apply modifiers as follows:

Material Treat as...
Buckram Light Cloth +1
Linen (Emelan) Light Cloth +2
Linen (Hârnic) Light Cloth
Russet Cloth +1
Serge Cloth
Silk Cloth +3
Worsted Cloth +2

I wouldn't have a clue regarding the armour protective qualities of the three furs (ermine, sealskin & beaver). The official suggestion that they be treated as Quilt as far as APVs are concerned just doesn't sit right with me.

Also available for download is an application of the Armour Profiles Summary, looking at knights' armour. Sixteen armour profiles are listed, ranging from non-combatant, unarmoured knights right through to overarmoured tanks. Enjoy!

Rotten luck. My knight in the Torlyne Tournament, Sir Marick of Arwine, had only just tasted sweet victory last week, only to have it wrenched from his grasp by his next opponent. And more injuries, too. I fear that my noble warrior spends more time at the infirmary than at the tilt yards... :-( A full blow-by-blow commentary can be found here.

More tournament results can be found at The Hârnic Jousting Page. I must say a most interesting result between the champion of the Royal Chelebin Tournament, Sir Laban, and his upstart contender!

In case you have been unaware, the poor administrator of the immensely popular HârnForum, the extremely generous Peter Leitch, was being overwhelmed by the amount of traffic hitting the newly created forum. Basically, he was going out of pocket every day because the traffic far exceeded his monthly limit. So, the forum has shifted to a new server (outside of Australia, to a place that doesn't rip people off), and has a new URL:

The Dwarven ForgeJust a quick note to announce that, as of today, the website of fellow HârnGamer Steve Williams, The Dwarven Forge, has closed down. "Terminated with extreme prejudice courtesy of my web-hosts and lack of domain name funds!", says Steve.

The monetary reality of maintaining a fansite is a poignant reminder of the dedication that we Hârn fans put into our favourite roleplaying game. Remember, these sites don't generate any income at all - we host fansites purely out of love of the game.

The good news is that Steve is intending to launch a new site very soon. Bigger! Better! When it's up, it will be announced here.

The newest addition to HÂRN LINK is the following site by David Chart:

DCS Hârn

DCS? What in the world is that?! Well, according to this site, it is a free, simple roleplaying system designed by David himself. Looks very interesting, although wild horses couldn't tear me away from HârnMaster... ;-)

Thanks for the heads up, Shane9!

I am delighted to see that my knight in the Torlyne Tournament, Sir Marick of Arwine, has finally won a bout! After his miserable defeat in the previous tournament, I was beginning to lose hope. Anyway, you can read the (very well-written) commentary right here.

Want to know more? Then head over to The Hârnic Jousting Page.

The latest addition to HÂRN LINK is this fine site by Joseph McCallum:

The Hârnic Grimoire The Hârnic Grimoire

As the name implies, the site is a repository of various Hârn-related articles. Want to know more about Hârn's undead, for instance? Then this is the place to visit!

Seeing as nobody was stepping up to the plate to attempt a map of Kethira to use in Milieu Simulations' WeatherMaster, I went ahead and did one up myself. This map has been included in the following .ZIP file, which also contains a newer version of the .MDB database, this time including the Sarajinian holidays (how could I have left them out?!).

One caveat: To convert the map from the original interrupted epizenithal projection to a Mercator projection, the poles had to be completely warped and so are probably of limited use under WeatherMaster. The regions between 60° North and South have not been converted to a Mercator projection, though - I couldn't be bothered trying that, nor was I interested in warping the shapes of the continents. This means that there are gross inaccuracies, nearly all of which are (luckily) in the oceans. I can say that the map is perfectly acceptable for Hârn and western Lythia, which is good enough for me. Enjoy! :-)
