The latest addition to HÂRN LINK is a site by the esteemed Jamie Norrish, the original webmaster of the HârnPage, back in the good ol' days when it was in the hands of fans:
Jamie Norrish : Writings : Hârn <http://www.artefact.org.nz/~jamie/harn/index.html>
All loyal Hârniacs should pay homage to his site. Thanks very much to kjmann for the update! :-)
Also, a slight change - at the author's request I have shifted Eric Hotz's link so you will now find him under H, not E.

Yesterday (on Australia Day) I ran the next session of my Trobridge Inn campaign. The adventure module contains a lot of really good material, although I find it requires a fair amount of fine-tuning to suit my campaign. Little things, such as the timing of events, where people are, and so on. My players appear to be having a lot of fun as they become caught up in the intrigue.

I'm pleased to say that out of the dozen Link Carcasses over at HÂRN LINK that I had identified earlier this week, at least one of them has turned out to be live. I've been assured by Adrian Maddocks that his site, Hârnic Hotch-Potch, is alive and well but residing at a different address. The link has been updated with the new URL.
As for the dead links, they have now been purged. Goodbye!

Hrafn of Hrafnsbjarg directed me to a website that has the most comprehensive weather generating tool that a GM could ever wish for! Check out the following site to see what it is all about:
It is a brilliant utility, fully customisable to suit any world - the more data you can input, the better (although the defaults are impressive by themselves). WeatherMaster is not only very functional, it also looks really good! The only problem is its hefty price tag - for a sideline GM tool, I do feel that almost US$20 for it is overpriced. I figure around half that would be about right, but that's just my opinion of its worth. Yeah, yeah, call me a scrooge...

Many thanks to Shane9 of The Shadow of Bukrai for posting a link to Takeda's and my article on the HMC and d20 systems' combat rules (see yesterday's entry below). Also, thanks go to Peter at Lýthia.com for posting a local copy at his site (a self-extracting executable version of the article, no less!). And, to add to the exposure, I have also posted a link at Hârn Wiki.
Dear oh dear, what is going on over at HÂRN LINK? Several more Link Corpses have been discovered, to my dismay:
Captain Gold's Hârn <http://captaingold.fortunecity.com/harn.htm>
A Castle for the Taking <http://www.members.home.net/lythian/jerry.html>
HârnTools Team <http://www.flinthills.com/~jpm/harntools/>
Jerry Mulholland's Hârnworld <http://members.aa.net/~rodean/harnpage/harnpage.html>
Jumi HârnPage: Index of HTML Articles <http://jumi.lut.fi/Harn/HTML/>
Pentay's Home Page <http://www.pentay.com/>
Penultimate Tome <http://mindless.tky.hut.fi/harn/>
Variant Religions of Hârn <http://www.df.lth.se/~brosen/harn/religion.htm>
Village of Trobridge PBEM <http://users.aol.com/Harngm/trbridge/frmst.htm>
What has happened to these sites? If they truly have disappeared, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. I hope these sites will be revived soon, otherwise I shall have to remove them from HÂRN LINK - I don't want the page being thought of as a URL graveyard, you know...

I am very pleased to announce the completion of a joint project that Takeda and I have been working on: a comparison between HMC's and the d20 system's combat rules. This is sure to be extremely useful (especially) for newcomers to Hârn, whether they are using the HMC or d20 rules. Check it out!
The PDF file is a little under 1Mb in size (zipped).
Now, on to a housekeeping matter at HÂRN LINK. It appears that a couple of sites have stopped breathing (thanks for the heads up, Patrick). Will the webmasters of the following sites please step forward:
Hârnic Hotch-Potch <http://www.lancs.ac.uk/staff/gyaam/harnpage/>
Joe Adams' Hârn Links <http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/2403/links.html>
The links have died. If the sites have been moved, please let me know so I can update HÂRN LINK. Otherwise, they will be deleted.
BTW,
another HÂRN
LINK site, Kingsley
Gardner's Roadkill of the Web <http://www.tyco.net.au/~king/>,
is no longer active and has now been removed. At least Kingsley was good enough
to inform me that his tyco.net.au account was shutting down. Will the site return?
Not at this stage, it seems. Always a sad thing, to see a Hârn fansite
go... :-(

The HârnMaster Gold House Rules for Combat continue to grow. Now version 1.7, it includes some optional rules for Initiative and Tackling, as well as one or two expansions on existing house rules (kudos to Hrafn of Hrafnsbjarg for the idea about using weapon skill for Fumble Rolls!).
Note that although these house rules are primarily intended for HMG (which is no longer in print), it is relatively easy to adapt to HârnMaster Core Rules (HMC).

Hot on the heels of the HMG Armour Calculator (v2.0), I have uploaded the HMC version:
Thanks for the positive feedback, by the way! :-)

Happy New Year!
It's good to be back after a relaxing break, made all the more enjoyable because I managed to go and watch The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. What a brilliant adaptation of Tolkien's novel - this is by far the best fantasy movie ever made! Maybe years from now, a high quality film will be made on an epic tale set in Hârn...
Anyway, here's what's new at this site:
This version even includes price modifiers for dyed garments, just to add a little colour to a PC's wardrobe! Feedback, as always, is most welcome.
