In my recent Web-trawling, I noticed to my dismay that Hârn didn't have a proper presence at RPG Gateway.
This site is one of the biggest RPG databases available, yet it didn't even have a category for our beloved game. So, I set out to change that. I quickly became the editor for the new HârnWorld and HârnMaster category, and put out a call-to-arms to other Hârngamers to place their links there.
I am delighted at the overwhelming response. Over 15 new links in the space of a day! And the listing continues to grow.

(Putting on Master of the Lists hat) My lords and ladies, I present to you the commentary for the duel on the issue of honour between Sir Eldaen and Sir Matalov:

To the winner of this duel, I hope you're proud of yourself, fighting a fellow countryman. To the loser, my sincere commiserations - it was a fair fight, and could have gone either way...
Many thanks to Penfold for assisting me in this combat.

The
result of the long-awaited Final of the
Jousting
contest is now available! A hearty congratulations to this year's Champion
of the Royal Chelebin Tournament of Chivalry!
The winner will receive the Tournament Winner's brooch (pictured left), a copy of his heraldic shield rendered by artists from the Project Hârn team, as well as a copy of Auran's upcoming game, Dark Awakenings: Guardian.
Now, all that remains is for me to officiate in the duel between Sir Eldaen of Katair and Sir Matalov of Auerdas. The blow-by-blow commentary and final result will be posted here (only) this Thursday.
In case you are interested (seems like quite a few of you are), I have uploaded the Excel workbook I used to keep track of all the scores in the tournament. It has been Zipped to keep the size down:
Tournament 2001 Workbook (Zipped Excel Workbook, 194Kb)
The main worksheet is very broad, even with the extra columns collapsed, so I recommend a screen resolution of 1152x864 or higher to minimise scrolling.

Taking inspiration from Matthias Janßen's armour calculator for HMC (available at The HârnMaster Jousting Page), I have created a second version of my armour calculator. It is available from my House Rules page, and also from here:
HMC Armour Calculator v.2 (Excel Workbook, 745Kb)
Let me know if you have any comments. :-)

A promising start to a new Hârn-related site, this one by Lucas Magnusson. He has created issue #1 of his HârnWorld fanzine, Thonahexus (named after one of the nine Althar). Check it out, it is impressive:
I hope Lucas has a lot more success with Thonahexus than I had with Genin's Paper Trail... :-) I'm sure he will.

The results of the Semi Final of the Jousting competition are now out! Congratulations to the two finalists! The tournament will conclude next Monday.
Looks like this contest has inspired a whole new site dedicated to Hârnic jousting. Matthias Janßen has created this highly promising site, to carry on the jousting legacy long after the current competition has ended. Looks like there will be opportunity for roleplaying in it, too. Check it out:
The site has only just started, but I'm sure the ranks of knights will swell quickly. Hurry up and join now - be among the first! :-)

Gosh, it's Thursday already! Time for the Quarter Final of the popular Jousting competition. More lance-shattering action at the lists have narrowed the number of competitors to just 4 knights. Congratulations to those still in the game - you're doing great! :-)

The
player behind Sir Eldaen Katair, Matthias Janßen,
has been very generous in presenting me with the shield you see here to the
left. As I am Master of the Lists in the Jousting
competition, a title normally held by the Master Herald, and since the
Master Herald in Kaldor is known as the Acorn King of Arms, it is a very appropriate
device. I suppose you could describe this in heraldry-speak as argent,
three acorns slipped and leaved. Hmm, maybe the field should be described
as ash colour instead of argent, although
that colour is not one of the recognised Hârnic tinctures... Anyway, many
thanks, Matthias! :-)
Of course, the gift of the shield will have absolutely no effect on the outcome of the duel between Sir Eldaen and Sir Matalov!

All right, the results for Round 3 of the Jousting competition are now available at Project Hârn. There are now 8 knights remaining in the tournament from the original 36. There will only be 4 left after the Quarter Final, which takes place this Thursday. Exciting stuff!
Are you keeping track? This scorecard might help (10Kb, PDF).
The tournament is not without its controversy. Over at the Hârn Forum site, there have been eloquent-yet-heated words between Sir Eldaen Katair and Sir Matalov Auerdas! A duel of honour has been challenged and accepted. One week from the close of the tournament, there will be a joust à outrance, to the death! The fun just doesn't end, does it...

For those of you who are interested, I've updated the links list on my Armoury Links page. If you find any other sites worth listing (no sites that are selling weapons or armour, please - no interest at all for me), then please send them through to me.

The second half of the results for Round 2 of the Jousting competition are now up at Project Hârn. Don't forget to drop in at the Hârn Forum site (look under General Discussion) to chat with the participating knights! :-)

I am absolutely stoked at the new banner heading up WarFlail's Armoury. It was generously given to me by the boys over at Auran for my (still ongoing) work on running the Jousting competition. A rather admirable coat of arms, I must say: Or, two bars embattled vert, a warflail - good Aussie colours, too! Thanks, guys! :-)

Queen's Birthday
Well, I'm not certain whether today really is Queen Elizabeth II's birthday, but we have a public holiday to celebrate it here in Western Australia. The other Aussie states celebrate her birthday on another date and instead have today off for Labour Day... It's all very confusing. :-)
Anyway, the first half of the results for Round 2 of the Jousting competition are now up for your reading pleasure at Project Hârn. The fighting just gets better and better...
