New Year's Eve. Today, Scully's friend Neisha married Adrian. The reception was at Altitude 9, which commands a spectacular view of the Swan River and the newly constructed Swan Bells bell tower. The party was a blast!

It's that time of year again - the Hopman Cup is upon us for the 13th time, marking the first professional tennis tournament in Australia for 2001. The first session was played today, between Japan and Belgium (Belgium won).
Scully and I watched the match from a corporate box - the only way to watch tennis! :-)

Merry Christmas!
Hard to believe that it's Christmas already. Where did all the time go?
Seeing as it was such a warm day (37°C) here in Perth, Western Australia, much of the day was spent in the pool, after an excellent lunch of barbequed blue-boned groper fillets, salad and fine wine at my in-laws' place.

Fellow Hârniac Timo Hanschke has launched his website: Timo Hanschke's Hârnic Corner. Timo has kindly put up an English as well as a German version of his site. Go check it out!
Also launched is a completely re-vamped homepage belonging to one of my players, Penfold. No Hârn material here, but worth a look all the same: From a Pillarbox somewhere in Mayfair.

The latest word from Columbia Games Inc is that they will soon be releasing a d20-compatible version of their excellent Gargun sourcebook and adventure module, Nasty, Brutish and Short. If this helps generate revenue so that CGI can publish their long-awaited HârnMaster Bestiary and HârnMaster Military sourcebooks, I'll be very glad. Why? Without these two modules (especially HM Military), their second edition RPG system is incomplete. Read all about it at RPGnet: Columbia Games D20 Release.

How about a riddle to brighten up your day? This one should be worthy of the Riddlemaster of Anrist Point... :-)
You are the king and your ten vassals arrive at your court, each bearing a sack of a hundred gold coins as tribute. You have it on good authority that one of your vassals has been dishonest and somehow shaved exactly one tenth the weight off each and every coin in his sack. Unfortunately, you do not know which vassal is the dishonest one. Also, all the gold coins look identical - it is impossible to tell the shaved coins apart from the normal ones just by looking. All the normal coins weigh exactly 1 ounce, and the shaved ones weigh exactly nine tenths of an ounce. Therefore, the only way to tell the shaved coins apart from the normal ones is to weigh them.
Who is the dishonest vassal? You may use the royal weighing scale, which is extremely accurate, but you may only use it ONCE.
The first person to answer correctly will enjoy a fleeting moment of fame, by being announced on this page! Send your answer to riddlemaster@warflail.com. Good luck. :-)

I'm not one to normally rave about movies, especially ones that have been out for months, but there is this one movie that I saw yesterday that I thought was just brilliant! Guy Ritchie has done it again with Snatch. Cleverly written and filmed. Definitely worth watching, at least twice.

Today I ran another session of my GunMaster Gold campaign, Gargun with Guns. Actually, it has been months since my previous game, as I have had to attend to Real World duties. It was very enjoyable, with the firefights and car chases being quite tense and easy to visualise. I think most of my players had a good time, too (apart from one, perhaps, whose character fell out of a moving vehicle... a long story!). It's good to know that the GunMaster rules, coupled with HârnMaster Gold, work well and certainly don't get in the way of a decent story-telling.
