Early this morning, my father was taken to a hospice by ambulance after collapsing. He seems to have stabilised somewhat, now that he is receiving expert palliative care. The Cottage Hospice is a very caring, inviting place where patients can die with dignity and in peace - I think (and my parents agree) that this place is a much better place for my father to be than at home.

Thanks to all of you who have been sending me e-mail expressing your sympathies. My family and I are extremely grateful for your support.

I have grave news: my father has been told that he does not have much longer to live. For the past few years, he has been troubled by a cancer that has been growing in his lower abdomen. This has recently affected his kidneys, causing renal failure. As a result, his creatinine level continues to increase into the thousands, which will eventually lead to coma and then death in a relatively short time. I had been intending to go on a business trip this weekend but obviously won't be going, and will even take a couple of weeks off from work to help my father and mother through this difficult time.

All right, I admit I've been slack with regard to updating this page, but the truth of it is, I've been so absorbed with playing Baldur's Gate (what a *great* game!) that I haven't had much time to do anything else on the computer! Besides, there hasn't been all that much new lately to report. However, I would like to draw your attention to my updated Hârn-related Links page, if you're even remotely into Hârn(Master).

On the persistent recommendation of my best mate Rough, I downloaded NeoPlanet 2.1 to see what he was raving about. Wow - this is cool! It is essentially an Internet browser/portal application that uses your existing Internet Explorer software to render Web pages but allows for fully personalised navigation. It's small (only a 1.3MB download), is unintrusive and best of all, it's free! Read about it at http://www.neoplanet.com/start/ and give it a go.

I've updated my config files for Action Quake2. Click here to download my latest autoexec.cfg and radio.cfg files as well as a keyboard map in Excel 97 format. If you're an Action Quaker, you may find it useful for constructing your own configs.
